Playstation

So today I was supposed to be doing assignments - hey, there is still an hour and a half of monday left, something might get done - but it has been spent at the twin altars of housekeeping and playstation. I am currently playing a game called Champions of Norrath or something equally testosterone, sci fi and manly sounding. You just know it is loosely based on Dungeons and Dragons. I've run into a few difficulties at the moment as the playstation or the disc has stopped working. There are compatibility issues and all round refusals to load. Who knows, maybe the television is staging an intervention. I'm glad I got to have the pleasure of killing the giant ant AND the giant spider though. I don't feel so bad about missing the rest of the game. I don't even mind the characters constant whinging "not enough mana" because he sounds like an exasperated Richard E. Grant, and is called Schultz.
I find it a little disturbing that I just talked about mana. Simultaneously geeky, and honouring Paul Holmes.

Wanton destruction

Today was a bit of a mess for me, as I was running on too little sleep. It feels like months since I got to sleep in properly. By properly I mean sleeping in until the afternoon. Its self inflicted of course, that damn Playstation is so much more appealing than the thought of doing school work after work. So deadlines were pushed back and I found myself doing school stuff at 1.30 am when I had to be working the next morning.
Needless to say I was a bit sour when I was with it enough to be anything.

Highlights included:
-almost clipping a measure of coffee into the base of my upside down cup
-laying some whoop-ass on an innocent book I was supposed to be repairing
-attempting to carry extremely hot toast in my bare hands and burning myself
-thinking it would be a good idea to walk up 4 flights of stairs to my 15min tea break

Along with sundry other silly things, including a joke about rugby wife bashers in the staff room. Then I found it amusing that the book I was butchering was called "Berlin: Now and Then" in light of my Leonard Cohen fest yesterday.

But anyway, playstation again tonight but I will try to ensure the smackdown is finished at a respectable hour. Doesn't sound nearly so good does it, though I suppose staying up 'til dawn with an RPG is hardly cool either.

I definitely need to move and get a life.

Don't look no farther! Baby I'm back (yeah ) I'm here to cater to you (any thing that you want me: do I'll do it)

Its been a rough couple of days, so lonely, so isolated.
My computer was in the repair shop for a short while, following a rogue installation. They didn't fix it (and charged me the princely sum of $102.50 for the experience; overcharged I might add. As the staff member remarked "We shafted you for 25c". Applaud everyone, I did not retort "just the 25c?"). So I have formatted the computer myself and reinstalled everything. These past few days I have been painstakingly fixing the settings to my liking. There are so many little things; the witchhunt to eliminate Windows Messenger, adjusting the views so I am not greeted with patronising pictures of folders and extra large writing, getting back to the minimalist black background. Now it is all details, lovely black screen, and carefree select uninstallations of windows components. I still have to choose my wallpaper - or would that be too tacky? I find a smallish picture is usually not de trop, but one has to be so careful about image choice.
To look at this typing you would think I had a refined aesthetic sense. Absolutely not, but one never knows who may be looking over one's shoulder at the screen so presentation is important. By the time you add in my spectacles, the image is of someone who is intelligent and studious. Someone responsible, trustworthy and committed to intellectual rigour. Of course that all goes by the bye when you see my $3 op shop outfits, but I try.
I've rather missed the blog anyway, it is such a procrastinatory aid. Thank goodness for playstation - even when I can't solve the world's problems by pontification, I can still save the world, one titanic button mashing battle at a time.
